Ricardo Herz reinvented the Brazilian violin. His technique brings to the instrument the hum of the accordion, the roar of the violin and the beautiful melodies of the traditional and modern choro. Under the influence of Dominguinhos, Luiz Gonzaga, Egberto Gismonti, Jacob do Bandolim, among others, the violinist mixes Brazilian and African rhythms and a sense of jazz improvisation. ​ "Full of sensitivity and virtuosity, swing and lyricism, Ricardo Herz is essential in the history of the Brazilian violin! A graduate of the USP in violin, his solid training began at the age of 6 in São Paulo. He then studied at the famous Berklee College of Music in the United States and at the Center des Musiques Didier Lockwood (CMDL), the school of the legendary French jazz violinist. Ricardo also dedicated part of his time to teaching and spreading the popular violin. He has given numerous masterclasses at festivals and recently launched the first Brazilian popular violin online method. *He speaks Portuguese, English and French.
